With rumours abounding that she is set to portray Adele on screen, Australian actress Rebel Wilson may have been hoping for a big thumb’s up from the lady herself.
Unfortunately, London’s own phenomenon was sounding distinctly unimpressed by the suggestion, when she took to the stage in her home town this week.
The ‘Hello’ star told the packed crowd, “They need my f***ing permission.”
She also made her opinions clear on the choice of actress for the role, saying:
"I've heard there are rumours about Rebel Wilson will be playing me in a movie – let's see if that turns out to be true.
"Just because I'm plus-sized doesn't mean she's playing me.”
Rebel, who has made her name in a string of comedy films, is reported to be keen to prove she can cut it in a straight role.
A friend of the actress told the Daily Star: "Rebel can't match Adele's vocal talents but she can certainly sing. And, with a little technical wizardry, she'll sound just like her in the movie.”
Because the twiddling of a few knobs is all it takes to sound like the century’s best-selling singer, after all. Adele’s reaction to that dismissive comment is yet to be revealed, but here’s hoping she will soon make her feelings known.
