Ariana Grande has addressed reports speculating about her sexuality, after a line in her new song Monopoly caught the attention of fans.

On Monday, Ariana unveiled the track Monopoly, which features her friend and Thank U, Next collaborator Victoria Monet.

Upon its release, her fans picked up on one lyric in particular, in which she and Victoria sing: “I like women and men.”

While various media outlets took this to be Ariana’s way of coming out as bisexual, she has since insisted on Twitter that this is not the case, and instead she chooses not to label herself.

One fan tweeted that Ariana “ain’t gotta label herself, but she said what she said”, the singer wrote back: “I haven’t before and still don’t feel the need to now… which is okay.”

Meanwhile, Victoria – who came out as bisexual in 2018 – responded to someone who asked whether Ariana was bisexual: “She said what she said.”

Ariana has also liked a number of tweets on the subject:

Ariana and Victoria have worked together multiple times in the past, co-writing five of the tracks on Ariana’s most recent album, but Monopoly marks the first time that Victoria has been a featured artist on one of her songs.

Monopoly sees the two women praising one another, their friendship and successful working relationship, with them singing: “This been buildin’ up, I guess this friendship like Home Depot, I’m so thankful working with my best friend, she the cheat code.”
