Batman: Arkham City Review

Batman: Arkham City Review

Batman Arkham City is one impressive game; it takes the well-known and even more importantly well-loved character Batman and puts him in a game that is by all means stunning.

Arkham City throws you in to a cut off section of the Gotham that now serves as a super prison to playing host to all criminals from the fictional Arkham Asylum and Blackwater Prison, Bruce Wayne gets thrown in by a group of solders working for the games main antagonist Hugo Strange as he knows Bruce's largest secret that he is Batman and he as the mysterious 'Protocol Ten'.

Batman must get to the bottom of this not to mention the numerous supervillians who have amazed control over sections of Arkham City with their own gangs, you can expect to see Joker, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, Penguin and more, not to mention Catwoman who if you buy the game new comes with a redeemable code that makes the famous feline thief playable not only in challenge maps but in select parts of the story itself.

Controlling Catwoman in Arkham City is a general delight she feels different to Batman yet similar enough for you to pick her up easily.

Batman however is who you will be controlling most of your time in Arkham City and for good reason it's his game after all, he comes with a great ensemble of gadgets and manoeuvres.

Batman also has RPG elements meaning every time you finish taking down a group of thugs you gain exp which once you gain enough to level up you can upgrade an existing or gain a new ability, this means you can improve Batman (and Catwoman) to tailor your needs.

From exploring Arkham, tracking villains to throwing batarangs or just throwing multiple thugs Batman: Arkham City just feels solid and provides and enjoyable experience for not just fans of the Dark Knight but gamers in general.

Rocksteady have really shown what they are capable of with this game and established themselves as quality developers I do want to see what they can do now in terms of a new property but saying that it is a shame I will not get to see a Spiderman game created by the London based studio as their where acquired by Warner Bros. but it means we may just see a good Superman game, but may not be wise to hold your breath.

With a quality main story, many side missions not to mention an impressive amount of fan service in this game Batman: Arkham City is a game worthy to be under any tree this Christmas and in the consoles of any Batman fan before then.
