Billie Eilish has hit back at “stupid-ass” criticism that Drake has received since she revealed that they had exchanged texts.

Last year, the Grammy-winning singer excitedly revealed that she and Drake had been texting one another in an interview with Vanity Fair.

She explained: “Drake is like the nicest dude I’ve ever spoken to. I mean I’ve only like texted him [not met him in real life], but he’s so nice. Like, he does not need to be nice. You know what I mean?

“He’s at a level of his life where he doesn’t need to be nice, but he is. You know?”

However, soon after the interview was published, many fans suggested their text exchanges were inappropriate, given their 15-year age gap and the fact Billie was still 17 at the time of her comments.

In her first cover interview for Vogue US, Billie has rubbished the criticism, insisting there’s nothing wrong with her texting the Canadian rapper, who she has long been a fan of and even covered in her early live shows.

“The internet is such a stupid-ass mess right now,” she explained. “Everybody’s so sensitive.

“A grown man can’t be a fan of an artist? There are so many people that the internet should be more worried about.”

Billie added: “Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Trump? What the fuck is that shit?”

Drake received similar backlash when it was revealed that he’d been exchanging texts with a then-14-year-old Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Stranger Things.

Millie wrote on her Instagram story back in 2018: “Why u gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline? U guys are weird… for real [sic]”
