Coleen Rooney has issued a statement following Rebekah Vardy’s appearance on Loose Women on Thursday.

The two footballers’ wives have been embroiled in a very public feud since October, when Coleen kicked off what became known as the “WAGatha Christie” saga.

She revealed that she’d blocked all but one of her Instagram followers, in a deliberate attempt to find out who had been leaking stories about her to the press.

She then made headlines when she dropped the immortal line: “It’s… Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

While Rebekah has always maintained she wasn’t personally responsible for the leaked stories, she doubled down on this defence on Thursday’s Loose Women, revealing the aftermath took such a toll that she was hospitalised on three separate occasions.

Responding to Rebekah’s interview, Coleen’s rep said in an official statement: “Coleen has nothing to add to what she has already said.

“She remains confident in the legal process and sees no reason to take the numerous opportunities that have been offered to engage in further public debate in this matter.”

Recalling being seven months pregnant when it all happened, Rebekah, who admitted she is “in the middle of a legal battle” over the matter, told the Loose Women panel: “We were just about to meet to go for dinner with some friends and we were just in a taxi, my manager messaged me and said you need to see this.

“I looked at my phone and there it was in all its glory. It was hideous and it was horrible and I don’t think I was prepared for what was to come.

“The trolling was the worst part for me. I have been trolled before and I do get it all the time, but it escalated off the back of this.”

Rebekah also said several arrests had been made after she went to the police about the online abuse she’d received.

“You can’t let them win,” she said. “I think the more we highlight the fact that this is happening and this is really serious the more the chances are of doing something good about it.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
