Eamonn Holmes Says Ruth Langsford Is 'Difficult' To Live With, Comparing Her To A 'Racehorse'

We think his tongue was firmly in his cheek when the This Morning host was asked about his marriage on Kate Thornton's podcast.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are famed for their playful banter, but we’re not too sure how she’ll feel about his latest admission.

The This Morning presenter has claimed his wife is a “very difficult person to live with”, comparing her to a racehorse who sometimes kicks you or “bites the sugar lump out of your hand”.

Speaking on Kate Thornton’s White Wine Question Time podcast, Eamonn says: “She’s a very difficult person to live with because she’s illogical with a lot of things.”

Referencing a recent argument they’d had about his driving, he explained: “She is a complete panic merchant. I can’t panic people, although I love and adore her, she’s like a racehorse.

“You don’t know if you go up to it whether it will kick you, or bite the sugar lump out of your hand. You have no idea of what it will happen – it’s the adventure.”

Eamonn also claimed to love his wife far more than she loves him, which he puts down to their nationalities.

The Northern Irish star said: “The thing about me is that I would say that I love Ruth far more than she loves me, but she would say, ‘how do you know how a person feels?’

″[Ruth’s] more English, she’s not like me. I am from a very emotional, very sentimental family. She’s more stiff upper lip, she comes from an army family.

“I totally believe that she loves me and adores me, he laughed. “But I would still think that I love her and adore her more.”

The daytime TV couple have experienced an emotional few weeks following the death of Ruth’s sister.

The presenter was left heartbroken after her older sibling, Julia Johnson, died last month at the age of 62, forcing her to take time off from her hosting duties on This Morning and Loose Women.

Announcing the news on Twitter, she wrote: “My heart is completely broken. She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.”
