It's a well known fact that reclining with a good book and cocktail in hand is a real treat. Think of those holiday moments, or just being curled up on the sofa on a Saturday afternoon - whatever the occasion, the two go hand in hand.
Luckily for us, the 2016 shortlist for the Baileys Women's Prize For Fiction has been announced – and what better way to enjoy the work of one of these brilliant female authors than sofa-side with a flat white martini? After all, if a lineup of incredible female writers isn't something to celebrate, we don't know what is (as if we needed an excuse anyway).

Yes, the caffeinated cocktail version of the flat white is here. If 2015 was the year of the espresso martini, then 2016 is the time of its up-to-date counterpart: velvety, smooth, silky and delicious.
The best bit? It’s a doddle to make – either for an indulgent solo treat or for a select group of friends.
Here’s how it’s done. Just scale up the ingredients if you’re shaking for a crowd.
- Grab a cocktail shaker, and throw in a handful of ice cubes.
- Pop in 50ml of Bailey’s Original Irish cream.
- Add 25 ml of Smirnoff vodka.
- Finish with a 25ml shot of espresso.
- Give it a good shake up.
- Strain into a martini glass.
- Pep your cocktail up with some extra coffee beans and enjoy. (Warning: this concoction is so blissful, your usual glass of Sauv isn’t going to cut it anymore. Sorry.)
