Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Chris Pratt Considers Son When Choosing Movie Roles

Actor Chris Pratt has told how fatherhood has shaped the way he handles his career, saying his young son is always on his mind when he chooses roles.

The actor, who first became known for his role in comedy TV series Parks And Recreation, is currently starring in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.

He reprises his role as Star Lord Peter Quill in the action-packed Marvel franchise, which he said is one of his four-year-old son's favourites.

Speaking at the film's premiere event at London's Eventim Apollo on Monday, he told the Press Association: "Now when it comes to choosing projects, he is most definitely always in the back of my mind.

"It's really exciting for me that he will see his dad as Star Lord again.

"At four-and-a-half he was able to handle the first Guardians movie and he's a bit young to understand what it all means, but it's so cool that he can get swept up in it all."

Reflecting on his growing career on the big screen, Pratt has recently spoken out about the benefits of being objectified and most recently went back on his self-proclaimed "stupid" comment about there being too few films centred on "blue collar Americans".

Speaking about fantastical comedy Guardians, which sees his Fleetwood Mac-loving character bicker with almost everybody around him, he said: "What's really exciting about a movie like this is that it's something everybody can agree with.

"With everything that's going on in the world - maybe in America in particular - it brings people together, at least for just a couple of hours."

His co-star Zoe Saldana, who plays green heroine Gamora, also said her recent introduction to motherhood will make her more selective about the projects she takes on in future.

"The older they get I will have to be more particular," she said.

"That will be down to timing, especially when they start school, but also I want my children to see me making my own decisions.

"It's important to teach them to have their own identity and to command respect from others.

"But I won't base all my creative decisions on them because they also need to know it isn't always about what other people think."

:: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 opens in UK cinemas on Friday.
