H&M recently paired up with Richard Allan, creating a collection that paid homage to the late designers’ iconic printed designs of the 60s and 70s.
Its latest designer collaboration is with Giambattista Valli, an Italian designer based in Paris, famous for his exquisite haute couture evening wear.
There are larger than life creations that simply ooze opulence – from statement red tulle and snake-effect trousers, to lace skyscraper boots and sequin suits.
A word of caution however. It’s pricier than you’d normally expect to find at H&M, with items starting at £12.99 for knee high socks to £299 for the red tulle dress.
Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor for H&M said of the exciting launch: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Giambattista Valli. He is the undisputed master of haute couture with a knack for the memorable silhouette. To be able to bring his signature styles to our customers is a dream come true.”
It’s the first collection of its kind for the designer and an opportunity to make his beautiful creations available to a bigger audience.
In a statement, Valli said: “H&M gives me the opportunity to bring my vision of style and my celebration of beauty to a wider audience. The goal is to share my love for beauty and to be able to be part of everyone’s ‘happy moments’, to help create love stories all around the world.” It also marks its first foray into menswear so everyone can get a piece of the pie.
Originally announced in May with Kendall Jenner wearing a frothy pink frock to walk the red carpet cat Cannes Film Festival, the full collection has now launched in stores and online.
Below are the pieces we’ve got our eyes on for the Christmas party season and beyond.
