This Tiny Handheld Vacuum Cleaner Made Cleaning A Pleasure, Not A Chore

And this is from someone who hates cleaning.

Honestly, it’s life changing is a regular series where we talk about the weird and wonderful possessions we can’t imagine life without. Think of it as an ode to the mundane, bizarre and, sometimes, wholly unnecessary products in our lives.

When my other half suggested we get a handheld hoover, I told him he was being ridiculous. We already had a perfectly good vacuum cleaner and I have a newfound, Marie Kondo-inspired aversion to clogging up my flat with things I don’t really need.

Reader: he bought it anyway. And I’ll admit I couldn’t be more grateful.

I’m not the biggest fan of cleaning – just read my review of Mrs Hinch’s overrated Minky cloth – so I was delighted to find this Beldray Cordless Wet & Dry Handheld Vacuum Cleaner (£24.99 at Robert Dyas or £29.99 from Amazon) could make the domestic upkeep of our home a thousand times easier.

Gorged on crisps in front of the telly and left evidence everywhere? No problem. Walked in leaves and dirt from outside onto the carpet? No problem. Spilt a drink on the kitchen floor? You guessed it, no problem.

Now, like some sort of domestic ghostbuster, I just whip out my handheld hoover and suck it all up at the first sign of any speck on the carpet.

And no more waiting until we can be bothered to lug the massive hoover downstairs to hoover the house fully. This compact little beauty tucks away nicely on top of the fridge on charge (because it’s that convenient). If you don’t have space on top of your fridge it also comes with a wall mount.

The hoover is particularly handy when it comes to cleaning the car. I live in a flat, which makes it impossible to plug my hoover in anywhere near where the car is parked, but nowadays my handheld model works a treat – especially with up to 20 minutes of uninterrupted cordless power. I often take a Golden Retriever for a walk and, as much as I adore him, he sheds his fur all over the backseats. We used to have no choice but let it pile up – now, we travel in cleanliness and comfort at all times.

The only thing I’d say is that the suction isn’t as strong as it could be, which is fine for the price, but if you need something more powerful (especially if you have kids) it might be worth investing a little more. For the odd crumbs or dirt amassed by two adults, however, it works wonders.
