How Europe’s Sex Workers Are Impacted By Coronavirus

Just like many other industries that require human contact social distancing, one of the key government guidelines for reducing the spread of Covid-19, is affecting sex workers. Many countries are providing support for marginalised communities including migrants, homeless & casual workers, but due to criminalisation, stigma and the sometimes informal nature of the industry - sex workers are falling through the cracks. In some cases they are able to move to online work like ‘camming’ (working via a webcam) to supplement their incomes, for others though stigmatisation and the fact their profession is a secret prohibits them entering the public domain. But in the absence of government support activist groups have been trying to fill the gaps with financial, medical and food aid.
