Two 'Inbetweeners' Stars To Reunite For TV Sitcom

Joe Thomas and James Buckley are teaming up again.

‘Inbetweeners’ fans will be delighted by the screen reunion of two out of four of their favourite dysfunctional young men.

Joe Thomas and James Buckley - aka Simon and Jay from their previous hit - will be teaming up for a brand new TV sitcom written by Damon Beasley, one of the ‘Inbetweeners’ co-creators and writers.

The Sun reports that details of the new show are scarce, but James Buckley has revealed that it will debut, like its predecessor on E4 next year, “filming will (happen) towards the end of the year, and it’s going to be set in Essex in the Eighties.”

E4 bosses will no doubt be crossing fingers that comedy gold will strike again for the pair, who starred alongside Blake Harrison and Simon Bird in three series of ‘The Inbetweeners’ as well as two films.

The show was nominated for 'Best Situation Comedy' at BAFTA twice, in 2009 and 2010. At the British Academy Television Awards 2010, it won the Audience Award, and in 2010 the show won the Best Sitcom award at the British Comedy Awards.

The first film became one of the UK’s biggest cinema success stories, but the quartet have vowed their story is now finished, despite much demand for another outing. Simon Harrison told the Sun recently, “It’s like the fall of the Berlin Wall.”
