Joe Wicks had an emotional moment as he signed off from his final PE With Joe online class on Wednesday.
The fitness guru has become the nation’s PE teacher over the last 18 weeks, hosting daily workouts on his YouTube channel aimed at kids, which have raised over £580,000 for the NHS.
For his last session, Joe was joined by his wife Rosie Jones and their children Indie and Marley, with more than 100,000 watching along on YouTube.
“It’s a sad day but I’m so proud,” Joe said. “We’re fitter and stronger. We’re healthier and happier.”
After letting off party poppers, he said: “That’s the end of PE With Joe.
“Thank you so much for taking part. Thank you to everyone from the teaching assistants, parents, the fans, everyone that’s taken part. I’ve loved it so much and I’m going to miss you all.”
His voice appearing to crack with emotion, he added: “I don’t know what to say, I’m really emotional.”
After jumping off his mantelpiece, Joe signed off by asking fans to keep exercising.
“You feel quite low, your energy is not great. You come through the workout… you feel energised, happy, you’re positive, it makes you feel fit and strong and confident,” he said.
“Just because live workouts aren’t on, keep going. Every single workout we’ve ever done is on the channel. Go back and relive it.
“Keep training together as a family, you are each other’s role models. It’s all about mental health and you’re going to be living a healthier, happier life if you exercise together. So please keep it up.
“From me and the Wicks family, bye everybody.”
Joe – otherwise known as The Body Coach – began the workouts for children stuck at home when the government first closed schools due to the coronavirus outbreak.
During that time, his 78 workouts have racked up 80 million views in total, with a watchtime for PE With Joe passing 2,271 years.
He previously announced he would be donating all the ad revenue generated from his workouts to the NHS, and along with profits from T-shirts and other merchandise, Joe has raised a total of £580,000.
On Instagram, Joe called his classes his “proudest achievement”.
He added that he will be taking a break to “recharge his batteries”, but promised to return later in the year for more live workouts.
