Kidnapper Who Stole Car With Children Inside To Be Sentenced

A kidnapper who stole a car with two children inside, before abandoning the baby on a doorstep is due to be sentenced.

Martin Cawley, 19, was high on drugs when he got into a parked car and drove off during the incident on July 2.

The children's mother had parked in Kempe Road in Enfield, north London, and gone into a nearby shop.

A 12-year-old girl, who was in the vehicle with an 11-month-old baby, escaped and rolled out onto the road a short time after Cawley drove off.

The baby boy was found, uninjured, on the doorstep of a house in Guinevere Gardens, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, after what the judge called an "entirely traumatic" incident.

The car was discovered later in Coopers Walk, Cheshunt.

Cawley of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court, to kidnap, child abduction and aggravated vehicle taking.
