Love Island has only been off our screens for a matter of days, but fans are already calling for one of the most-loved contestants to return to the small screen.
Maura Higgins made quite the splash after arriving in the villa, and following her fourth place finish in Monday’s final, viewers are hoping the Irish grid girl lands a spot on the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! line-up.
As tweets calling for producers to contact Maura rolled in, a TV fan account shared a screenshot of a direct message they’d sent to ITV, which read: “How many RTs for you to put Maura Higgins in the jungle?”
Perhaps unexpectedly, then they received a tongue-in-cheek reply of “10,000” and the sunglasses face emoji.
The tweet has so far received over 20,000 retweets, so we can only assume this is a done deal.
Get packing, Maura. You’re heading to Australia.
While numerous reality stars have donned their khakis for the show, the jungle is yet to play host to a Love Island star.
The most recent series was won by football manager Harry Redknapp, who pipped Emily Attack and John Barrowman to the post in the live final.
While ITV are yet to confirm an air date for the next series of I’m A Celebrity, it’s expected to return in November with Ant McPartlin rejoining Declan Donnelly to present the show.
