Lulu Joins Judging Panel In Search To Find Stars For Take That Show

Singer Lulu has signed up to collaborate with Take That once again - this time in finding new stars for their stage show.

The Scottish star, who first rose to fame in the 1960s, sang with the boy band on their cover of Relight My Fire in 1993 and has now been announced as a guest judge for new BBC1 Saturday night series Let It Shine, a search for the lead cast of a show based on Take That's music.

Lulu, 68, will team up with the group's songwriter and singer Gary Barlow, as well as judges Martin Kemp and Dannii Minogue, in her guest role to help choose the best contestants for parts in the musical.

She will appear for the second stage of the competition, where the hopefuls trying to land a part in the show will perform in groups for the first time, and will offer her expert opinion on who to send through to the next round.

Lulu said: "I have always loved working and sharing in the success story that is Take That.

"So the chance to bring my experience and knowledge of West End musicals to help cast for a new show feels a privilege and I am thrilled to do it."

Her role will involve whittling down the groups to five bands who will go on to compete in the live finals of the show, with the winning group landing jobs with the cast of a touring musical featuring the music of Take That.

Musical theatre star Amber Riley will be the first guest judge for the opening round of the competition when the series launches in the new year.

The pre-recorded episodes filmed in September and the judging panel for the live shows is yet to be announced.
