Man Held In 'Kidnap' Probe After Pensioner Found Wandering In Hereford

Detectives investigating how a pensioner from the US ended up wandering around Hereford with no memory of who he is have arrested and bailed a man on suspicion of kidnap.

A 75-year-old man known as Roger Curry was handed over to emergency services in the town near the Welsh borders on November 7 last year.

West Mercia Police launched an international appeal to try to discover his identity.

As part of the police investigation a 50-year-old man from Taunton, Somerset, was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and has been bailed until June 23 as officers continue their inquiries.

The force said: "The victim remains happy and content and continues to be cared for by Herefordshire Council."

Speaking today Sergeant Sarah Bennett, who has been leading the inquiries, said: "We would like to thank the public and the media for the significant amount of support they have shown by sharing our appeals to identify him far and wide."
