We’ve only just recovered our wig after the inaugural UK series, but the RuPaul’s Drag Race train continues full-steam ahead with the ru-veal of the new US queens.

The 13 new contestants taking part in the 12th series of the original show have now been announced – and some may look a little familiar to drag connoisseurs.

Among the new queens are Dahlia Sin, who is the drag daughter of former contestant Aja. Fans will remember her from season nine, where she placed ninth, as well as the third All Stars series.

Never one to hype things up, Ru has called the latest bunch of queens “the most talented we’ve ever had”.

“Just when you think you’ve seen it all, a fresh crop of queens arrives and blows our minds all over again,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Fellow judge Ross Mathews has also said it is his “favourite season yet”.

He told Digital Spy: “I am just blown away by what the producers are doing to keep it fresh.

“I just think it is chock-full of talent. I can think of all the girls and there is not one who I couldn’t see winning.”

Season 12 of Drag Race will debut in the US on Friday 28 February, with new episodes to air in the UK on Netflix every Saturday starting on 29 February.

Also confirmed for this year are a fifth All Stars version, as well as a celebrity series, which will see a host of famous faces each being guided on their Drag Race journeys by a former contestant.

A second series of the UK version has also been commissioned to air on BBC Three later in 2020, after the runaway success of the first season, which was won by The Vivienne.

A Canadian version is also in the works, while a third series of the Drag Race Thailand is also expected to debut this year – although neither will feature RuPaul.
