Sheridan Smith was all smiles on Tuesday night as she posed for selfies with theatre fans backstage at London’s Savoy Theatre.
The 35-year-old star reprised her role as Fanny Brice in the West End production of ‘Funny Girl’ last Friday (8 July) after being signed off from the show with stress and exhaustion two months ago.
The actress was on fine form as she pulled her best selfie faces out of the bag to pose with fans after another triumphant performance in the lead role.
Producers Sonia Friedman, David Babani and Scott Landis confirmed Sheridan’s return to the show last week in an official statement.
“It is currently planned that Sheridan will also play this Saturday evening (not matinee), and Monday to Saturday next week (excluding the Wednesday matinee and Thursday evening performances at which Natasha J Barnes will perform),” they said.
“From the week commencing 18 July, Sheridan is scheduled to perform Tuesday through Saturday, with Natasha playing Fanny Brice on Monday evenings.”
Her friend David Walliams was one of the first to welcome Sheridan back, tweeting: “I am delighted to see that the hugely talented @Sheridansmith1 is back on stage in @FunnyGirl_UK I can’t wait to see it again now.”
Her ‘Funny Girl’ castmate, Matthew Goodgame, also took to Twitter to say it had been an “honour” to play opposite Sheridan.
