The former Made In Chelsea star was visiting a vintage watch store when what he described as “guys driving a scooter” raided the shop.

In a video posted on his Instagram story, Spencer explained that he was at the back of the Duke Street shop when the men made their way in.

“So I just had to hide in a safe, or more like a vault, while this watch shop got smashed to pieces by armed robbers,” he said. “Well maybe not armed robbers, but they had these huge jack hammers.”

“We’re in the back of the shop looking at them, sprint downstairs, hide in the vault,” he said.

After the incident he and his companions – who he did not name – searched for the watch Spencer was due to collect.

“Lo and behold we look around and on the floor amongst all the rubble and glass, there’s one watch and it’s mine,” he said. “Now if that’s not luck I don’t know what is.”

Spencer also shared a series of pictures of the carnage on his Instagram story and one appears to show an abandoned moped on the street.

Eyewitnesses said around six masked men on four mopeds targeted the shop, with one brandishing a machete at members of the public outside, Press Association reports.

The thieves rammed the front door with a scooter, before smashing at an inner door with sledgehammers.

Thames Valley fire service engineer Paul Starck was left with glass in his eye after the knifeman tried to smash his car window to stop him calling the police.

A Met Police spokesperson has confirmed that armed police attended the scene after being called at 10.32am. No arrests were made.

Spencer found fame on Made In Chelsea but left the show in 2015. Since then, he’s appeared on a number of reality programmes, with stints on The Jump, Celebrity Hunted and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.
