Tanya Roberts, the star of James Bond film A View To Kill and the Charlie’s Angels TV series, has died at the age of 65, a day after her representative mistakenly announced her death.
The US star was admitted to hospital on Christmas Eve, after she collapsed while walking her dogs.
Her representative initially announced to the media that Tanya had died on Sunday, but later told TMZ and The Associated Press that there had been a mistake and she was, in fact, still alive, but in poor health.
Tanya’s partner, Lance O’Brien, had reportedly believed she died, with the actor’s publicist telling The Associated Press that O’Brien claimed to have held Tanya as she seemed “to slip away”.
O’Brien – who had left the hospital without speaking to any medical staff – apparently received news from doctors that his partner was alive when he answered his phone during an interview with Inside Edition. While O’Brien is identified by the AP and other outlets as Roberts’ husband, Inside Edition identified him as her partner.
He has now told TMZ that he received a phone call at around 9pm on Monday evening, telling him that Tanya had died.
Tanya was best known for playing Stacey Sutton opposite Roger Moore’s 007 in the 1985 Bond film A View To A Kill.
The American star began her screen career in 1975, when she appeared in the film Forced Entry.
Tanya had several big-screen credits before landing her first major TV role in Charlie’s Angels in 1980.
She portrayed Angel Julie Roberts in the final season of the hit cop show, with her character taking over from Shelley Hack’s Tiffany Welles as part of the crime-solving trio.
In 1984, Tanya appeared in the titular role of the film Sheena, which was a female version of the Tarzan story. While it bombed at the box office, it later gained a cult following.
Between 1998 and 2004, Tanya also starred in the US sitcom That ’70s Show in the supporting role of Midge Pinciotti, sharing the screen with Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
According to IMDB, her last credited role was in 2005, in TV series Barbershop.
