Viewers of ‘The Chase’ have accused producers of fixing the result on Sunday night’s show after the Chaser won despite appearing to run out of time.
Contestants Patricia, Marian and Graham amassed a prize fund of £30,000, with Chaser Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett needing to answer 21 questions correctly in two minutes to deny the team their winnings.
In the nail-biting final six seconds, The Beast needed to get two more questions right in order to win.
When host Bradley Walsh started to ask the final question, the Chaser cut him off mid-sentence to give the correct answer. But was he in time?
Some fans certainly didn’t think so and took to Twitter to make their feelings known...
Speaking after winning the show, The Beast told the three contestants: “You didn’t deserve to lose. I’m really sorry guys, you were superb.”
It is not the first time ‘The Chase’ has been at the centre of fix claims.
In a previous show viewers noticed that the countdown clock appeared to freeze during the final Chase.
The Beast looked to have been given an advantage in the final round of the quiz when the clock got stuck and he was given an extra second’s time.
However, bosses later insisted it was due to an editing error that took place in post-production.
Host Bradley Walsh has also addressed fans’ claims he asks the Chasers’ questions quicker than he does the contestants’, giving them an unfair advantage.
He told Radio Times: “We have lawyers on the floor to watch all of this. I read them at exactly the same speed for both.”
