Widow In Plea To Crimewatch Viewers 10 Years After Husband Was Murdered

A grieving widow is due to make an impassioned plea for information on Crimewatch, a decade after her husband was gunned down.

Jim Stanton, 58, was shot while he was at work at Aintree Commercial Vehicles on Ormskirk Road in Aintree, Merseyside, on July 24 2006.

Detectives from Merseyside Police are due to appeal to Crimewatch viewers on Monday in a bid to trace the people responsible for the murder.

Jean Stanton, the victim's wife, said: "I just want to try and - not forget - but come to terms with the situation in a different way.

"I honestly don't know how, but I'm sure if we did get some answers I think life would be different."

Officers investigating the murder will be taking calls and are continuing to offer a reward of £20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his death.

The programme will also feature an appeal for information about the death of mother-of-two Robyn Mercer.

Antiques experts Ms Mercer, 50, was found battered to death outside her home in Molesey, Surrey, on March 14.

She had last been seen alive the night before.

:: The appeals will be shown on Crimewatch, on BBC1 at 9pm on Monday.
