‘X Factor’ Winner Matt Terry Admits Break-Up Pushed Him To Audition

'That was the start of everything changing.'

‘X Factor’ winner Matt Terry has taken a trip down memory lane, revealing what inspired him to audition for the show in the first place.

He’s now revealed that splitting up from his dancer ex-girlfriend, Jas Avis, pushed him to make the most of his talents.

In May, Jas called time on their three year relationship just two days before Matt’s birthday, and he now tells the Mirror: “That was the start of everything changing.

Matt has opened up about a number of aspects of his personal life since triumphing over Saara Aalto in Sunday’s final, and on Tuesday (13 December) morning, he also addressed speculation about his romantic life.

The talk first began when some viewers suggested he’d shared a kiss on stage with former competitor Freddy Parker, shortly after being crowned winner, though Matt has since clarified things.

“As far as I’m concerned, I am a heterosexual man - but I will totally keep fans up to date with my personal life and who I am dating,” he said. “They will be the first to know. Fame is overwhelming but it is part of my job and I want to embrace it.”
