Magic Knickers - An Alluring Illusion

Yes, that's right - tall, thin, elegant, waif-like Gwyneth Paltrow admits she sucks in her fat with magic knickers called Spanx. Who knows what she really looks like without them?

Ladies, it's magic! It's magic! No, ok it's not rabbit-out-of-a-hat magic I'm talking about those big pants that suck in your fat. Sounds sexy, doesn't it? In the days of Bridget Jones' Diary, 'magic knickers' were anything but sexy - they were beige apple catchers that would attract a man while you were dressed, and then as soon as you undressed, they would positively repel him.

Of course, whatever you wear, your husband-to-be will love you. If he doesn't then you really should be re-evaluating your relationship, not your underwear. That said though, on your wedding day you might want to look slimmer or just a little more shapely for that special wedding dress and all those everlasting wedding photos.

If you're planning to wear a vintage style 1930s slinky, sheer gown then shapewear will help you to achieve a smooth silhouette. If you're wearing a 1950s style dress then it will help to squeeze in your waist and lift up your bust for that hourglass shape. In fact, whatever style of wedding dress (or bridesmaid for that matter) there is shapewear available, in the form of knickers, bras and bodies, to enhance your figure. And these days shapewear looks gorgeous too - you can get a shaping body that looks like a sexy corset and creates a perfect hourglass shape, in ivory, perfect under your bridal gown.

Maybe you love food and hate gyms, and your attempts at dieting your rounded tummy and thunder thighs away have fallen by the wayside of your favourite take-aways and mid-morning cakes. Those New Year's resolutions of doing 100 sit-ups first thing every morning and joining a Zumba class are long forgotten and your big day is edging ever closer. The panic sets in - the realisation that your tummy now sticks out further than your boobs and your thighs make a shushing noise as they rub together as you walk means you need a hasty plan B. Take a leaf out of Gwyneth Paltrow's book and get into shapewear. Yes, that's right - tall, thin, elegant, waif-like Gwyneth Paltrow admits she sucks in her fat with magic knickers called Spanx. Who knows what she really looks like without them?

How many times have you said, "I would just like my thighs to be a little slimmer or my tummy flatter, my boobs bigger or just not sitting on the fleshy shelf that has become my tummy..."? I once told a friend I would rather prefer the fat from my thighs to be in my chest, but she pointed out that was a long way for them to travel. Even Gwyneth can't manage that one.

The good news is if you have small boobs you can make them look bigger and create cleavage and if they need an uplift you can do that too - in fact with shapewear you can do amazing things (not the thigh to boob thing, but many other amazing things!) You can make your tummy flat, your hips and bottom appear smaller and your thighs slimmer without going on a diet or doing any exercise. It's not as healthy as going for a half-hour run three times a week and eating salad with each meal, but for that quick fix on your wedding day it works a treat.

In your bridal gown you will have a shapely silhouette that will wow everyone, then in the privacy of the bridal suite you can look forward to unveiling that alluring, figure-enhancing lingerie. It's a win-win!
