In an ever changing world, new technology is important, but is not the only direction one takes when wishing to make an impact to change the world for the better.
Using pop culture, media and new avenues to communicate and implement change is critical. WATERisLIFE has employed a variety of break through approaches to make a difference in the lives of others, communicating the importance of accessibility of clean water for all.
From WATERisLIFE's award winning videos in partnership with DDB NY we continue to develop communications that helps draw attention and, more importantly, donations that will allow us to grow our work globally. I believe that the future will rely on integrated elements - not one solution. The integration of well rounded sustainable water; sanitation and hygiene practices will reduce diarrheal disease, which currently is killing 4100 children each day. Using a variety of technological, communication and micro finance solutions will make an impact not only on clean water access but behavioral changes from within a community to create healthy environments in which to raise a family, an economy and environmental conditions.
One of our most innovative ways of bringing clean water is proving to stir emotion, offer a variety of implementation options to change behavior and the use of technology to save lives. All key components in creating lasting change.
Designed to filter clean water, The Drinkable Book was created in partnership with Dr. Theresa Dankovich, utilizing her silver nano technology paired with a tool that becomes a treasured possession - a book. The goal of the design was to use Dr Teri's innovative paper that kills disease like cholera, E. coli and typhoid, and to follow Dr Teri and WATERisLIFE's philosophy to create technology that was affordable and easy to produce.
The Drinkable Book is not only a wonderful gift, but also an opportunity to educate on safe hygiene and sanitation - which saves lives. The book is a gift of life and something that digital technology space could never provide. The book will be distributed in developing countries - in many villages where they have cell phones but no toilets, no running water, no electricity and of course no computers with internet.
We are working on funding partners to produce the Drinkable Books in 2015. Every single book will help save lives - and ultimately be an element in an incredible program to transform communities. Using innovative thinking and design to change the world.
