Online petition

Over 20,000 Japanese women have signed an online petition asking the government to ban companies from requiring women to wear high heels at work. The #KuToo campaign plays off the Japanese word “kutsu” or “kutsuu”, meaning “shoes” and “pain”. Actress and writer Yumi Ishikawa started the movement after sharing her story about being forced to wear high heels at her part-time job at a funeral parlour.
After an online petition got over 175 000 signatures, MPs will be debating in parliament whether teens should start school later in the morning. Some research shows that teens struggle to concentrate in the early hours and that shifting to a later school day could improve concentration and participation.
