I'm Coming Back as a Man - The Masculine Trend for AW13

A key Autumn/Winter trend for 2013 is the blurring of lines of masculine and feminine. I took inspiration from a beautifully talented singer, Caro Emerald and her lyrics to "Coming Back As a Man" to showcase the masculine/feminine trend. As Caro Emerald sang; "You see I've got it planned, I'm coming back as a man".

Think mannish suiting teamed with delicate heels, cute dresses worn with brogues, and the boyfriend coat, this seasons oversized outerwear.

"I'm gonna wear blue"

Autumn/Winter was all about petrol and cobalt blue. My two favourite colours of the season. It doesn't have to be a masculine blue suits; structured dresses fit the trend too. Although I love Paul Smith's AW13 womenswear collection that was a boyish concept mixed with a bit of feminine rock chick. Bright bold suits mixing the masculine cut with the bold bright colours that women love to sport.

"And find a pair of flat black leather shoes"

I'm not a massive fan of the brogue, if I can find a pair that really wet my whistle and suit me then I might be convinced; but you see I could never take the trend to the full limit, as I love my heels too much! This is one way to tread water with the masculine trend without changing your style too much. These are shoes you can dash around town in. Practical yet can still be stylish. Dare to be different and steer clear of black or brown, go bold with the colour of your brogues.

"Like wear a cologne, That says you are the man I'm gonna own"

Men's fragrances are getting more press time these days. Think David Gandy rolling around in the surf. Men are more interested in beauty, treatments and products and aftershave, cologne; the scents of Autumn/Winter lend more to a masculine fragrance for women too.

"To dress me up and make me look like someone else instead. It's time for my rehearsal, the ultimate reversal. You see, I've got it planned, I'm coming back as a man"
