British designer Sir Paul Smith has opened a new womenswear boutique on the corner of rue de Grenelle and rue Saint-Guillaume in Paris' 7th arrondissement, where the designer's signature brand of British luxury is housed in an art gallery-inspired space.
Bargain hunter, Notting Hill antique shop owner and designer Sir Paul Smith's lifelong passion for art and design has taken center stage on rue de Grenelle in Paris. His new boutique-meets-art gallery is divided into three areas characterized by various artists and designers. One area dedicated to women's shoes holds Men Only designs amid images by British photographer Hugh Stewart, while another houses the Paul Smith Black Label diffusion line and eccentric watercolors by English artist Lydia Webber - including Sir Paul's favorite painting of the boiled egg - which represent the brand's synonymous quirk. The final area and main room is lined in masculine black and white photographs from Small Trades by Irving Penn, which engage in a battle of the sexes with the Paul Smith womenswear collection. As an added perk, shoppers can bring home their own Paul Smith whimsy in purchasing the magnificent Murano glass chandelier and certain Lydia Webber watercolors.
