It makes sense - the people in that advert could potentially embarrass the Tories and hurt their fundraising - although IMHO it would take a lot to do that.

Then again, no UK or US political party will ask questions when they get a check:  like those from the Gaddafi family/charities, Murdoch et. al.   All money is green.  If it's really embarrassing, they'll say they'll donate it to charity - but who knows if they really do.

They checked out people who appeared in adverts but didn't bother with people they employed in Number 10 from what I can see
