Boris Johnson And David Cameron Square Up On Tennis Court (PICTURES)

  First Posted: 09/09/11 12:34 BST   Updated: 09/11/11 10:12 GMT

Prime Minister David Cameron and the London mayor Boris Johnson clashed racquets as they took to the tennis court to raise awareness of next year's Paralympic Games.

The two political heavy-weights played out their alleged rivalry within the Conservative party on court.

Despite being the more portly of the pair, Boris Johnson eventually emerged from the match triumphant. Johnson jubilantly tweed afterwards: "Cracking game of tennis with the PM."

Obviously, wif-waf skills are transferable to tennis. All those endless hours of strenuous wif-waf practice by Boris have finally paid off.

Mods; this was posted at 11:52 but did not show; it complied with your rules and wasn't offensive.  Please post.

Two supremely hypocritical politicians playing tennis has me drooling over a chance to play either one.

I love tennis; started playing again in my 30s (after I was widowed; it was either that or suicide), started running and lifting weights to be better at it.  (I already had a killer instinct.)  I learned 'precision' shots, and I can play all day using only backhand. After 4 major back operations, I am handicapped but not yet in a wheelchair.  I'm semi-retired (courtroom law, but still write professionally.)  Give me extra painkillers, I'll haply play either one (it's a draw whom I detest more).

I'll want a few minutes with the loser and the press to drink a celebratory scotch and explain the fallacy of applying 'global' economics to a small country with lots of honest but broke citizens paying the bills.    Then I'll go back to my hotel and die happy: sprinkle a few of my ashes around Churchill's statue and the rest can be fish food in the Thames.
