Ed Miliband: Ministers Sitting On Their Hands And Putting Jobs At Risk

Ed Miliband Jobs At Risk

Millions of UK jobs are at risk because ministers are "sitting on their hands" and wrongly blaming the eurozone crisis for Britain's economic woes, Ed Miliband is to say.

The Labour leader will say that while there is a "pressing need" to resolve the major problems engulfing the single currency, far more domestic action was required to stop Britain sliding back into recession.

Volatile markets rallied on Friday as two of the most troubled European countries, Italy and Greece, took steps towards stabilising their politics and putting in place tough austerity measures.

In Athens, new prime minister Lucas Papademos took control of an interim coalition government after days of intense wrangling following the departure of George Papandreou. Meanwhile, politicians in Italy are expected to give final approval to a series of reforms, which should be the trigger for the resignation of premier Silvio Berlusconi.

With technocratic administrations being put in place to calm fears in those countries, focus was shifting to Germany which has been the block to the intervention of the European Central Bank in propping up ailing economies.

Prime Minister David Cameron, Chancellor George Osborne and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg all issued stark warnings on Friday of the potential fallout of the eurozone troubles on domestic fortunes.

Mr Cameron said there was "a big question mark" over the future of the single currency and he could not rule out a "double-dip" recession in the UK as a result. He said he was doing everything possible to steer Britain "safely through the storm" but that the country faced "a difficult time because of what is happening in the eurozone".

Mr Miliband will use a speech, however, to accuse the Government of using Europe as a smokescreen for failing to take action to promote jobs and growth in the UK. Addressing a party conference in the West Midlands, he is expected to say: "It is time David Cameron and George Osborne started taking responsibility for what is happening in the British economy.

"There is an urgent and pressing need for the crisis in the eurozone to be resolved. But when people's jobs, homes and businesses are in jeopardy it is not enough for the Prime Minister and the Chancellor to use the eurozone crisis as a cloak to hide their lack of action."

They and Mr Clegg have made "terrible misjudgements which will cost Britain and British families dear", he will say. "Their mistakes could cost millions of people's livelihoods and jobs. They could cost our children's futures. They have shown themselves to be deeply out of touch with the needs of British business and British families who are crying out for a proper plan for growth and jobs."

better that sitting on his nose and talking out his rear end like he does all the time, I hate the conservatives but this joke of a leader makes Labour look more like the monster raving loonies than a genuine political party.

Ed Miliband says something against the Tories - shock ... horror... he better be careful not to be too unpleasant if he wishes to form the next coalition government with the Tories.

Of course Labour might be too right-wing for the Tories.

Fact is we are being governed by modern day corrupt crooks. If you thought the great train robbery in its day was big then you would be wrong. We now have something even more spectacular `the great European swindle. This country has to except the fact this country does not have a leadership who can get us out of this mess. All we got is bunch of out of touch millionaire pen pushers with a pair of binoculars standing on the white cliffs of Dover wandering what's happening in euro instead of wandering how to fix its own country. Unless this country gets strong leadership from someone that's in touch this country is finished.

What a knob."wrongly blaming the eurozone crisis for Britain's economic woes," Ed Miliband is to say. The King of blaming anyone but himself and his government, pot calling the kettle black. Can he not remember the apology left in the treasury desk drawer. "Sorry there's no money left". He and the other dic* Ed Balls were moronic Gordens puppet masters, one writing government policy and the other thinking up ever more ways to squander OUR money. Drifting along with the Viv Nicholson mentality (spend spend spend for the younger ones) maxing out the nations credit card.Well eventualy all the money and credit dries up and we end up on the market stalls instead of M&S, just ask Viv. If they ever get back into power (I know that wont happen) but if they did all we could look forward to is the soup kitchen.

So it's the Eurozone to blame for this crisis, but it was Labour to blame for the worldwide recession? And you call Miliband one eyed?

Name me an electable British political party that would have avoided that recession.

Both parties have done nothing for the people of this country in 40 years, this is why so many are on benefits now, all they want is this global economy garbage otherwise the Euro and Europe would be allowed to pass on, but no, lets just keep thrusting taxpayer cash into it while irresponsible tinpot European countries reap the benefits of 90% pensions etc etc at our expense. The same policies we have here have been enacted on the people of the USA, massive unemployment results and slave labour rates for those lucky enough to still be in work, while the gap between workers and bosses wages increase year on year. All our government are willing to sit on their hands and let this happen, none want full employment and they'd rather you starve than pay benefits or provide work, full employment would give the people power on wage negotiations, neither party will allow this to happen ever again, crooks and con artists the lot of them.

In the UK, taxes should be cut, in employers' National Insurance contributions, lower corporation tax for all businesses. Also, cuts in taxes on tobacco and alcohol, a reduction in the bank levy. Lower taxes on air travel and a council tax cut. If the UK government will cut taxes, then the bank of England will have more money into the economy.
