Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter Actor, Says Lib Dems Have Lost Their Magic

Daniel Radcliffe Lib Dems

Daniel Radcliffe has become the latest Lib Dem celebrity supporter to turn his back on the party, announcing he is likely to vote Labour at the next election.

In an interview with Attitude magazine, he said Clegg had become a "whipping boy".

"It seems to me that he has been totally used by the Tories - anything they don't want badly reflected on them they reflect on to him," he told the magazine.

The Harry Potter actor's defection follows that of fellow actor Colin Firth, who turned his back on the party following their u-turn over tuition fees.

Labour leader Ed Miliband has impressed, with Radcliffe saying: "From what I've seen of Ed Miliband, I really like him and he speaks for what I believe in. I think he's genuine, genuinely leftwing, and will act as such if he gets in."

Radcliffe also spoke out on the issue of gay marriage, saying everyone should show their support, regardless of their sexuality.

"The ultimate reason gay marriage should be legalised everywhere is because, as a kid, you look to your mum and dad and they're married; then you look at the gay couple who've been together for the same amount of time, but because they can¹t get married their relationship doesn't seem the same.

"Yes, gay marriage is about symbolically blessing a relationship, but the larger issue is about transmitting a fundamental message about equality. Gay people should have equality in law everywhere.

"If you grow up as a young gay man knowing you don't have the same opportunities as everyone else you're going to feel victimised and massive prejudice towards you," he told the magazine.

Following his show of support for Labour Daniel Radcliffe is 33/1 with Ladbrokes to stand as the party's leader before 2050.

I always wondered about the mental stability of those actors who turn into luvvies. Having decided the Libs have lost their magic (keeping in mind that all magic is really just an illusion). He now opts for the Labour party whose top people are just as loony, egotistical and freelance with our money (while disrespecting our opinions) as the Tories. Has his background become so select that he really cant understand that NO SENIOR POLITICIAN EVER TELLS THE TRUTH ABOUT ANYTHING!

Trust one and you really are in trouble!

They never had any magic to begin with

Simply they offered a viable alternative to voting Conservative.
Having gone into coalition this is no longer the case.
Clegg has sold them down the river as the votes in the next general Election will show.
I suspect they will then return less than 10 MPs to Parliament.

"From what I've seen of Ed Miliband, I really like him and he speaks for what I believe in. I think he's genuine, genuinely leftwing, and will act as such if he gets in."
Surely any party leader that resorts to use of the whip, is merely seeking to imbue a central figure with complete authority. Not needing support from voters or colleagues. Since one might be misled with lies, and the other subverted with threats or favours. Without continuous accountability, there is no requirement to honour promises or follow inconvenient policies. For as long as we elect personalities and are kept remote from selecting polices, we are doomed to be denied real democracy and offered deception and delusion in its stead.

What odds are they offering, of humanity ever occupying reality?

Its not just their magic they have lost ,they have lost the plot also.

If I convert to cathlocism, I wonder what odds Ladbrokes would offer on me becoming Pope.

You can afford almost anything you like, you don't even have to spend the money you got and can live an extremely good lifestyle from the interest payments alone.

Its amazing how famous actors soon turn in to experts on politics. When did the LibDems have 'magic' anyway ??.
12:04 PM on 02/06/2012
Where at all does he come across as an expert? He holds an interest in politics, along with millions of other people who hold a view about who runs their country.
