A hard-core porn star has agreed to accompany a teenager to his high school prom – provided he pays her airfare.

Megan Piper accepted the Twitter request from Minnesota student Mike Stone, on the condition that he forks out the $400 required to transport her from Los Angeles to Oakdale.

The big night in question is May 12, giving Stone, who says he's 18, plenty of time to raise the required funds.

Stone’s touching search for a companion came into the spotlight after his quest made it onto social news site Reddit.

Comments flooded in, variously hailing Stone as a "hero" and a "fat nerdy kid". Stone modestly describes himself as "AWESOME" on his Twitter profile.

User Callme_JM said: "Stuck in a three-way emotional limbo between pure joy, hating the kid, and admiring his courage. Not sure if I want him to succeed, but at the same time, I do."

Piper, 19, told The Huffington Post: “I thought it was really cute, and I thought it would make his night by saying ‘yes’.”

The actress, who has starred in numerous films including Every Last Drop and Coed Debutantes, has since Tweeted of how much she is looking forward to meeting her date. She has also promised to wear something "sexy".

Not one to do things by halves, Stone apparently sent out nearly 600 Tweets in his quest for a date.

With just 140 characters to get his message across, Stone’s Tweets are short and sweet, including one to adult star Brittany Blaze suggesting: “I have a lot of stuff plan (sic) like dinner hotel and a personal massage that ill give u.”

Blaze appeared less than keen to take him up on his offer, however.

Stone's scattergun approach is apparently paying off - as porn star Emy Reyes has also suggested she'd also like to attend attend.

Piper has meanwhile let it be known she's more than happy to share Stone's company on the big night in question.
