What's worse than getting drunk and tattooing yourself with the name of your first love or a Chinese proverb? Being sober and tattooing your leg with a huge picture of Boris Johnson.

But that is what 19-year-old Lewis Jolly from Chorley, Lancashire has done.

Speaking to The Sun, Jolly said that people thought he was "mad" but he liked it because it was "something different".

“I’m patriotic and I thought rather than have something everyone else has got — like a bulldog or the St George’s Cross flag — I’d get Boris. I love that he wants to celebrate what’s great about London," he said.

He added: “I’ve not got a girlfriend but I know when I do, the tattoo will definitely be a talking point.”

In the interests of political impartiality disastrously ill-advised tattoos of Ken Livingstone and Brian Paddick are also available.
