Notingham Pub Shooting
Malakai McKenzie was shot in the car park of The Hubb pub

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager who was gunned down outside a pub.

Malakai McKenzie, 19, was shot in the car park of The Hubb pub in Sherwood, Nottingham, in the early hours of 21 April.

Detectives believe he suffered the fatal injuries in a firearms incident in the car park of the pub, in Hucknall Road, at about 3.30am.

Three men, aged 17, 19 and 24, and a 21-year-old woman, arrested in connection with the death have all been bailed pending further enquiries, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Detectives still want to hear from anyone with information, in particular people who attended a party at The Hubb and taxi drivers who may have picked up people from the venue.

More than 60 officers are dedicated to investigating the murder of Mr McKenzie, who was taken to Queen's Medical Centre with serious injuries during the early hours of 21 April. He died later that day.

A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that he died from a gunshot wound.

A number of addresses have been searched and vehicles seized by police.

Forensic examinations are also being fast-tracked to ensure vital evidence is analysed and collated as soon as possible.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 0115 844 6913, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, countries like Bulgaria and Romania lost the main customer for their small arms trade. Unlike a lot of industries that lose the main market this one did not close down but survives on sales to terrorist and rebel groups. From this there is a spin-off to gangster and gang-type elements.
In recent years there has been a large influx of Romanians and Bulgarians into the UK. There has also been an increase in the number of guns on our streets.
Go figure.

how is it since they banned the sale of hand guns for pistol shooting gun crime has gone up?

Simply because possession of hand guns by the criminal fraternity was NOT banned - only possession by properly licensed sports shooters! Work that one out.

I would love to get these idiots who think that they are hard men (just coz theyre in gangs) into a car park and go hand to hand combat with them... we'll soon see who are the men and who are the 'boys'!!
"Any bloody fool can pull a trigger" (Mr Braithwaite, "Enter The Dragon")!!
If you cant get angry without pulling out a gat (their words, bless their little baby, wannabe gangster cotton socks and nappies!), then you have no space on this Earth... end of!
70billion people, and counting.... its not going to be too far off in the future that we start to cull the needless people who cause harm to this planet and its people through greed, corruption, and idiocy!

How come there are so many guns in the hands of neanderthals?
It's high time capital punishment was brought back as clearly the police are fighting a losing battle against those who use knives and guns.
The public can no longer afford to keep these people in prison (aka nice hotel) and it seems pretty obvious that there is no real deterrent.
If such people are prepared to kill, then they should also be prepared to suffer the same consequences of their actions. I'm pretty sure we would then see a marked reduction on murders.
