A fox that was trapped between the brick walls of two garages was released after being stuck for nearly two days.

The male cub became lodged between the garages in Spencers Field, Emsworth, Hampshire, on Monday.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted 36 hours after it got stuck in the cavity 12 inches below the concrete base and about three yards in.

Using chimney rods to gently reach the cub, animal rescue specialist Buster Brown was able to work out how far away it was.

He then set about hatching a plan to free the trapped animal.

After 36 hours stuck in the cavity, the fox was rescued by the local fire brigade

He then used a drill, hammer, bolster and chisel to remove bricks from inside the garage wall to reach the fox.

After fighting through the brickwork, Brown was able to retrieve the fox, ending its ordeal.

Mr Brown said: "Once a hole was made, I realised the cub had moved slightly so I had to make another. This process took nearly two hours as I had to remove the bricks carefully to ensure I didn't injure the animal."

After the fox was rescued, it was checked over by Mr Brown and released.
