The son of former Labour leader Neil Kinnock has been selected as candidate for a safe seat in 2015. Stephen Kinnock will stand in Aberavon, which the party has held continuously since the 1920s.

The 44-year-old, who has worked for the British Council and World Economic Forum, is married to Danish Prime Minister Helle Thoring-Schmidt. His mother Lady Glenys Kinnock is a former Labour MEP.

The current MP for Aberavon, Hywel Francis, announced last November that he would not seek re-election. He had a majority of more than 11,000 in 2010.
