Dermot O'Leary Digs At 'X Factor' With 'Strictly Come Dancing' Support At Glamour Awards

Ex ‘X Factor’ host Dermot O’Leary has taken a swipe at his former show by supporting its biggest rival ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ at Tuesday (2 June) night’s Glamour Awards.

The presenter - who left the ITV talent show earlier this year after eight years - handed out a gong to ‘Strictly’ hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, who won the award for Best Presenters.

In comments that are likely to annoy his former boss Simon Cowell, The Sun quotes him as telling the audience at London’s Berkeley Square Gardens: “Winkleman. Daly. It just works doesn’t it. You put it into any industry and it’s a success.

“They proved that you don’t need a man to anchor a prime time show.

“Myself and my male contemporaries also find it f***ing terrifying,” he added.

Since leaving ‘The X Factor’, Dermot has been replaced by Caroline Flack on Olly Murs as host for the upcoming 12th series, and has also been linked to a role on ‘Strictly’.

Judge Craig Revel-Horwood has backed him to appear as a contestant when the BBC ballroom show returns in the autumn.

He told The Mirror: “I know Dermot has been part of ‘X Factor’ for ages and of course we’ve had people on Strictly that have come through, like Caroline [Flack] for instance.

“Now we can get Dermot, I’d love to see him dance on ‘Strictly’. I’ve heard that he might be quite good actually.”

If his dances on ‘The X Factor’ were anything to go by, we're sure he'd stand a chance.
