A fitness blogger has shared a video showing the loose skin he's been left with after losing more than half of his body weight in 10 months.

Ryan Clarke, from Nova Scotia, Canada, weighed more than 27 stone when doctors told him he needed to lose weight for the sake of his health.

The 24-year-old embarked on a strict healthy eating regime and worked hard at the gym twice a day to lose more than 13 stone.

Talking about his skin in the video, Clarke said: "I've managed to do a pretty good job on toning most of it up and making it look half decent but I have this and it will never go away.

"Yes I'm self-conscious about it but here it is. Here's my loose skin. I've done this clean, the reason I lost so much weight in such a short amount of time is because I worked every single day as hard as I possibly can."

Clarke, a father-of-two, suffered from anxiety and depression before losing weight.

But the final straw came when doctors told him that if he didn't change his lifestyle, he might be dead before he reached 30.

"If he didn’t live to see 30 our kids wouldn’t even remember him. So he just woke up that one day and said enough is enough," his wife Alyssa Clarke told BuzzFeed Canada.

"He’s more here now...mentally wise, than he was 10 months ago. I feel like I’m married to a different man."

Clarke has now set up the Facebook page 'Journey to being fit & reaching your life goals' to inspire other people to lose weight and achieve their dreams.

Writing on the page he said: "I am so overwhelmed with happiness from everyone's kind words and well wishes.

"I've gotten so many messages and posts regarding my journey and also my video I posted showing off my body for the first time ever...it was very hard for me to do as you can see in the video I was a bit frustrated.

"But the more and more I thought about it made me glad I did it. I have nothing to hide and I am proud of my body."
