Executive Director External Engagement at City Lit, London’s largest adult education college offering daytime, evening and weekend courses.

Phil Chamberlain, is Executive Director for External Engagement at City Lit, where he leads on all areas of external relations and has overall responsibility for delivering City Lit's strategic objective to strengthen stakeholder engagement and to increase revenue generation through both fundraising and the cultivation of closer business links. Phil began his career in the Civil Service, working initially for the Northern Ireland Office and ultimately as Private Secretary for three different Sports Ministers. In 2001 he joined the New Opportunities Fund (NOF), and following a merger became, Phil became Head of Programme Policy and Development at the Big Lottery Fund in 2004. Between 2008 and 2010 he worked for Legacy Trust UK, where he was responsible for strategy and external relations. He then worked at the Youth Sport Trust as Policy and Communications Director in 2010, becoming their Group External Relations Director in 2014, before joining City Lit at the beginning of 2017.
