Rachel James

Menswear Fashion Designer

Rachel James and Tom Ings founded Rachel JAMES Ltd in June 2014. Rachel JAMES is a high end Menswear label with a strong brand identity, emulated around the philosophy of; creative yet controlled, slick yet crazy. Everything in Rachel’s collection is designed and manufactured in Great Britain.

Rachel JAMES launched at LCM with her AW15 Collection "Granny Flower/Man Power," that takes its name straight from the inspiration that drove the whole concept of the collection; Vintage florals from 70's wallpapers and womenswear. The Collection was translated through bespoke prints encompassing scanned pressed flowers; expressed creatively in a modern silhouette and range of fabrics and textiles to liberate today's men and change up menswear.

SS16 saw "Slick Lunatic," which stayed true to the brands identity with the use of bold original prints making each piece in the collection truly unique. This season saw a much subtler colour palette with mint greens, greys, whites and some black. Silhouettes from her previous collection carry onto SS16 but with a twist of patterns and fabrics.

This season for AW16 the brand launched their "Glitch," collection which evolved from images of technical glitches: white noise, fragmented pixels, distorted shapes with sharp contrasting colours. All of the garments in the collection are named after computer viruses: making something irritating or disruptive a deliberate and wanted idea. It is a sportier silhouette with a nod towards Japanese streetwear. Fabrics used vary from waterproof technical fibres to printed cotton poplin to foam bonded jersey to chunky merino wool.

Rachel JAMES is showing in the designer showrooms with the British Fashion Council as part of London Collections: Men this season and with Capsule Mens in Paris later this month. The brand has received press coverage across the likes of Vogue Italia, Sport and Street, Wonderland, Hunger, V Man and many more.
