The Conservative MP Philip Hollobone has queried how many schools in England are attended entirely by traveller children. His question to education ministers in the House of Commons was the highlight of the session, which was the pre-cursor to ministerial statements on phone-hacking and the Government's "Big Society" white paper.
The Government responded that there were no schools in England entirely made up of travellers, but Hollobone then claimed a school in his Kettering constituency is entirely populated by travellers.
Schools minister Nick Gibb promised to visit the school, and highlighted a £200m fund to help schools with a high proportion of ethnic minority pupils, under which travellers are included.
