Speaker's Wife Sally Bercow Latest Celebrity To Be Linked To Big Brother

Speaker's Wife Sally Bercow Latest Celebrity To Enter Big Brother House?

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Sally Bercow, the wife of the House of Commons Speaker, has become the latest celebrity to be linked with the new series of Big Brother.

The Daily Mail reports that Sally, whose husband John became Speaker in 2009, has signed up to appear in the celebrity version of the reality show which begins later this month.

The news was criticised by some of her husband's parliamentary colleagues, with Conservative MP Rob Wilson telling the paper he would "urge her to think very carefully about what she is doing".

Sally told her followers on Twitter she was "Now *seriously* tempted to go on Big Brother as riposte to those banging on abt 'dignity of the Speaker's office'. I am *not* the Speaker :)".

Sally, who ran as a candidate in council elections for the Labour Party, is no stranger to the limelight.

She came under fire earlier this year after she appeared in a newspaper wearing nothing but a bedsheet.

She later said she looked a "complete idiot" for appearing in the photoshoot and for telling the Evening Standard of the "aphrodisiac" effect of living at the Palace of Westminster.

Other celebrities linked to the new series of the reality show, which begins on Channel 5 on 18 August, include Irish twins Jedward and Kerry Katona.

The celebrity version will launch the series before the main show begins.
