Jeff Buckley Biopic Introduced Fright Night Star Imogen Poots To Tim Buckley's Music, Too

Buckley Father-Son Combo A Revelation For Biopic Actress Imogen Poots

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Imogen Poots has revealed that making a film about Jeff Buckley has introduced her to the music of his father Tim.

The 28 Weeks Later actress is set for a leading role in Andrij Parekh's drama Greetings From Tim Buckley, which is about late singer-songwriter Jeff, based on the true story of the days leading up to his life-changing 1991 performance at his dad's tribute concert.

A longtime fan of Jeff's music, she told The Playlist: "I was very aware of Jeff Buckley. My brother actually bought me Jeff Buckley for my birthday when I was in my early teens."

She went on: "Tim Buckley's music was not something I was that aware of, so I've really enjoyed going back through all his records and understanding the man he was. He was quite extraordinary, beautiful voice and lyrics."

Imogen, who next stars opposite Colin Farrell in Fright Night, spoke about her role in the biopic.

"I play a girl who Jeff meets when he is preparing to do a tribute concert covering his dad's music. It's really an exploration of their dynamic and how it evolves over four days," she continued.

"I'm very happy to be a part of it. We're rehearsing right now and we start in the next couple of weeks."

The romance teaches Jeff - played by Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley - to take advantage of his feelings towards his estranged dad, culminating in the cathartic performance of his dad's most famous songs which launches his career.
