Forget the Spice Girls, it was two midwestern women who really came to embody Girl Power in the nineties.
20 years ago, Thelma and Louise (Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon respectively) climbed into their Thunderbird Convertible and headed for Mexico, pausing only to cause havoc in the mountains.
Geena Davis was out in Beverly Hills this week, attending a special anniversary screening of the film that caused waves with its depiction of female emancipation at the hands of the feisty pair, who stopped their flight to Mexico only to shoot one man (Timothy Carhart) and seduce another (Brad Pitt in his breakthrough role).
