Estranged Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi is currently on the run from his own people following the storming of Tripoli by the National Transitional Council and the rebels.
But things weren't always so desperate for the leader, who spent 42 years in power.
In fact it was as recently as 2004 that then-Prime Minister Tony Blair visited Gaddafi in Libya and embraced him as a new ally in the 'war on terror'.
