PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Prince Harry is to present awards to a six-year-old quadruple amputee and a five-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer at a charity ceremony.
Harry will give the "best brave child" prizes to Harley Lane, six, and Sophie Cooper, five, at the WellChild awards in central London.
The ceremony recognises the courage of seriously ill children and young people in Britain.
Harley, from Stockport, had to have his arms and legs amputated after being infected with life-threatening meningococcal septicaemia, aged four.
Since then, he has been learning to walk and move around using prosthetic limbs, a WellChild spokeswoman said.
Sophie, from Lincoln, was born prematurely and suffers from cerebral palsy which has left her unable to speak.
She has endured countless medical procedures but her family says she always smiles afterwards and checks to make sure her mother is okay.
Harry will present Harley and Sophie with the Best Brave Child (aged three to six) awards.
The ceremony will also acknowledge the work of doctors, nurses and other health professionals who care for sick children. The prince will meet the winners in all the categories, and their parents, before presenting the awards at London's Park Lane InterContinental Hotel.
The awards will be hosted by Dancing on Ice star and WellChild ambassador Laura Hamilton. The charity helps sick children and their families throughout the UK as they deal with the consequences of serious illness and complex medical conditions.
