Bluetooth Speakers: New Bose SoundLink

Bluetooth Speakers: New Bose SoundLink Plus Four Alternatives

Bluetooth speakers are ideal for the beach, the park or to take to a friend's place for a nice glass of red.

Here we look at five of the best, including the Bose SoundLink, which launched in the UK on Thursday.

The latest in the Bose range, the SoundLink delivers substantial, clear sound, connecting to your Bluetooth phone or device with a range of up to ten-metres.

With four speakers for the high and mid range and two opposed radiators for bass notes, the SoundLink projected an impressive sound at its launch in London.

Bose say the internal working are sealed to keep dust and sand out, while automotive-grade chrome book-end the device to make it drop-proof. Speaking of books, a regular hardback novel is about the size of the new SoundLink, so it will fit easily into a beach bag, or handbag. A book-like cover acts as an off switch, turning the device off when the cover is closed, a feature iPad users will be familiar with.

While Bluetooth connectivity is the main focus of Bose's sales pitch on this, there's sockets in the back for non-Bluetooth devices too.

The SoundLink's rechargeable lithium battery will play for four hours at full volume, and eight at low to mid level, and plugs into the mains at the back.

Do take a look… though looking at speakers to ascertain their worth is like dancing about cake to judge is deliciousness. You need to hear them to make an informed choice.
