BBC Breakfast Host Chris Hollins Says Salford Move Puts Families At Risk

BBC Host Chris Hollins On Salford Move: 'It's A Huge Upheaval'

One of the BBC’s biggest stars has publically broken ranks over the co-operation’s multi-million pound move by claiming it is putting marriages at risk.

Breakfast and Watchdog presenter Chris Hollins says it’s not just staff but also their families who are suffering because of the change to Salford.

“This is an enormously emotional time for everyone involved. Going to Salford is a huge upheaval and people are not talking about the effect it is having on their lives.

“I did speak out, and people said: “What are you doing talking about Salford? Why don’t you just b***** off.’

“But perhaps it’s not realised that there are more than just the people on the programme who are involved — there are partners and children, too” he told the Daily Mail.

According to the paper there have been as reported 'unusual concentration' of BBC divorces linked to the Salford move.

It’s not the first time Hollins, who won popular appeal in 2009 after winning Strictly Come Dancing with dance partner Ola Jordan.

Big problems started last month when the BBC announced it would be moving the flagship Breakfast show – despite previously saying it didn’t have room to relocate.

Hollins said at the time that the move was “political” adding: “It doesn't take a brain surgeon to say that it will be practically impossible to get the Prime Minister on set, as we do at the moment,” he said.

Hollins, who is engaged to marketing expert Sarah Alexander, will not be taking part in the move.

He is not alone as presenter Sian Williams has confirmed that she will not leave London for "family reasons".
